According to the official 2026 Diana Award Roll of Honor, Alhassan was recognized for his contributions to animal welfare, public health advocacy and youth empowerment.
One of his notable initiatives is Feed A Cat Today (FACT), which he founded in November 2023. The initiative, described by the Diana Award as Nigeria's first student-led animal welfare community, has mobilized more than 800 young changemakers across 10 universities to promote animal welfare awareness and action.
Beyond animal welfare, Alhassan has contributed to healthcare advocacy through the African Youth Medicines Advocacy Network (AYMAN), which promotes youth participation in medicines policy and advocates improved access to quality-assured medicines.
He has also held leadership positions within the university and the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students, contributing to student development, public health advocacy and professional engagement.
His recognition reflects years of involvement in initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for students, advancing public health and encouraging young people to become active participants in addressing societal challenges.
For Ahmadu Bello University, this achievement represents a significant milestone and adds to the growing list of its students making contributions beyond the university community.
Alhassan's achievement is also a reminder that meaningful change does not always begin with extraordinary resources or established platforms. It begins with an individual willing to identify a problem and take action.
As he joins the ranks of Diana Award recipients across the world, his recognition offers encouragement to other young people to pursue initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact.
