A wave of excitement swept through Ahmadu Bello University recently as the Students Representative Council (SRC) organised a Fresher's Fiesta themed "Welcome to a New Dispensation". The event held at the Mamman Kontagora Square as a celebration to unite the incoming Class of 2024.
The event commenced after a procession by the SRC president, faculty presidents, departmental presidents and 100-level class representatives, who graced the special occasion to welcome the new students. The event was presided over by the SRC President, Muhammad Abdulaziz and the Executive Secretary and Chairman on Entertainment, Aliyu Muhammad (aka Black Hyder).
The fiesta was jam-packed with fun activities to bring together first-year students for the first time. From cooking contests to dance competitions to artistic performances by instrumentalists, musical performing artistes and dancers, there was no shortage of entertainment. Talented musicians including Mhizta Spiff, Bin Khalil and Kingslover had the crowd excited with live musical performances.
Ernest Omeje, a 100-level Local Government Studies student, emerged victorious in the dance competition sponsored by Infinix Mobile. His smooth moves impressed the judges and hyped up the crowd.
Meanwhile, in the cooking competition, Delight Chefs, a noble feast emporium in Samaru wowed taste buds with their mouthwatering cuisine to win the competition.
The ABU SRC's Freshers Fiesta marked the exciting return of this beloved student tradition. The event allowed new students to meet, mingle and get their university experience off to an unforgettable start.
