Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has officially commenced the screening of newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The exercise began on 1st December 2025 at the Mamman Kontagora Square, Samaru Main Campus, drawing the presence of university officials, students' representatives, security personnel, journalists, and excited new students.

Earlier in November, the University announced that the screening exercise would run from 1st to 15th December 2025, giving candidates adequate time to complete all necessary processes. The aim of the screening is to ensure that all admitted students meet the institution’s academic and administrative requirements before full enrollment.

This year, the University introduced an improved screening structure to enhance orderliness and efficiency. Speaking to ABU Campus Press, Umar Danjuma Abdullahi, Head of the Verification Team for the Faculty of Social Sciences, Law, and Arts, the 2025/2026 screening exercise is more organized compared to previous years. He outlined the step-by-step procedure every candidate is expected to follow:

  1. Sit and wait at the reception area
  2. Proceed for O-level screening
  3. Move to the faculty stand for screening by faculty representatives and officers from the Directorate of Academic Affairs
  4. Upload all required documents to the university portal
  5. Return to the screening stand for verification
  6. Proceed to the ICT personnel for digital confirmation
  7. Continue with the payment of school fees

Malam Umar also commended the efforts of the University’s security personnel for maintaining order, guiding students, and ensuring full compliance with the screening regulations.
