The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Campus Press inaugurated its newly appointed executives on Saturday, January 3, 2026, for the 2025/2026 academic session. The virtual inauguration ceremony, held from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., was attended by members of the Campus Press, students from the Department of Mass Communication, academic staff, and key stakeholders. Among those present were the Head of Department, Mass Communication, Dr. Adama Adamu, outgoing and incoming executives of the ABU Campus Press, among other stakeholders.
In his opening remarks, the newly appointed President, Sanni Liasu, expressed his profound gratitude for the confidence reposed in him. He officially accepted the appointment and pledged his readiness to lead the club with dedication and responsibility.
While speaking at the event, Dr. Adama Adamu, Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Patron of the ABU Campus Press, commended the consistency and impact of the association over the years. She traced the club’s origin to its early days as the “Press Club” in the early 2000s and praised the efforts of previous administrations in sustaining its legacy and groundbreaking transformation.
Dr. Adama also, in her speech, charged the newly inaugurated executives to move the Campus Press to greater heights by building on the achievements of past leadership. She described the ABU Campus Press as the most influential association within the department, noting that it stands out even among other associations, including the mother body, MACOSA.
Still in her goodwill message, she urged the executives to take charge of media coverage for the forthcoming university convocation, emphasizing the need for full access to activities across the campus. She concluded by wishing the new executives a successful administration and praying for success in all their endeavors.
In his closing remarks, the outgoing President, Abdulsalam Ibrahim, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the lecturers of the department for their guidance and support throughout his tenure. He emphasized the importance of active participation in the club’s core activities, including reporting, writing, and publishing on the Campus Press website.
The ceremony concluded with the formal inauguration of all newly appointed executives, and appreciation was extended to all members and stakeholders who participated in the event.
