ABU Batch D NELFUND Refunds Completed - ABUSRC Confirms Alerts Started

ABU-SRC President Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki

PRESS RELEASE:

BATCH D REFUND COMPLETED

The President of the Ahmadu Bello University Students’ Representative Council, Comrade Abdurrahman Halliru Saraki, announces that refunds of institutional fees for Batch D NELFUND beneficiaries from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been completed.

Speaking to the Press shortly after a meeting with University Management in the early hours of Monday, June 22, 2026, the President said:

“As we stated this morning, we would meet with Management today to address the refund for Batch D, graduates, and students who changed programmes. I am pleased to inform you that following our engagement and appeal, the Batch D refunds have been initiated. As I speak, students are beginning to receive alerts.”

When asked whether all refunds had been processed, President Saraki clarified that this was phase one of the refund exercise.

“Phase one covers all Batch D students, who number approximately 4,028. For graduates, this will be the final refund and Management has agreed to process it. Their numbers have been confirmed; once their vouchers are ready they will be refunded,” he said.

President Saraki thanked students for their patience and reassured graduates that their refunds would follow.

“We appreciate the patience demonstrated by ABU students during these trying times. The wait is over for Batch D, congratulations. I also want to assure our graduates that we will continue to press until their refunds are processed,” he said.

Concluding the briefing, President Saraki addressed ongoing delays in NELFUND upkeep payments.

“I share the frustrations of my fellow students over the two-month delay in NELFUND upkeep. This situation is unacceptable. On behalf of thousands of ABU students, I call on NELFUND to immediately release the May and June upkeep payments without further delay.”
