ABU Zaria Welcomes New Students at Matriculation Ceremony

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria held a matriculation ceremony for its newly admitted students, marking the official start of their academic journey. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Mamman Kantagora Square, Main campus, Samaru, Zaria. 

The ceremony which officially welcomed the 8,395 newly admitted students was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala. His address to the matriculants emphasized on the need for them to take their studies seriously, and every aspect of their life, as well as look out for opportunities and miss them.

The Registrar, Mallam Rabiu Samaila, administered the matriculation oat, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the university’s rules and regulations. 

The ceremony which saw in attendance a large number of students adorned in emerald green matriculation gowns, stressed how much of an important moment this event marked.

"I'm so excited to be starting this new chapter” Amida, a fresher from the department of chemical engineering had stated “and I’m looking forward to meeting new people and learning from experienced lecturers." 

Speaking on finally getting admitted to his dream school was Ibrahim Abdulazeez, a new intake in the college of medical sciences stated that he had chose ABU because of its reputation for academic excellence. “Naturally ahead for a reason” he asserted with so much excitement.

The ceremony was an important moment for the university and the newly admitted students. It marked the start of something new; the beginning of their academic journey.
