The Ahmadu Bello University Students’ Representatives Council unveils the Federal Government’s groundbreaking Special Palliative Relief on University Transportation project termed “Project CNG-SPROUT.” The event which took place at the Mamman Kontagora Square, ABU main campus aimed at showcasing the CNG vehicles donated to the university to ease daily transportation.
The event was graced by reputable individuals, including Professor S.B Junaidu, Dean of students affairs division; Dr. Hashim Muhammad Sulaiman, Deputy dean of students affairs division; ABU Chief security; Dr. S.M Makarfi, chairperson, University inter/Intra transport committee; Nazir Ibrahim Kallah, SRC president; Kusogi Abdullahi, PRC president; Engineer David Ovoke Obire; CNG intiative representative, and many other reputable individuals from the university and surrounding community.
In his welcome address, Professor S.B Junaidu appreciated President Tinubu for the outstanding initiative, explaining how the introduction of CNG vehicles would help ease campus transportation costs, and improve safety across the length and breadth of the campus.
The SRC President, Nazeer Ibrahim Kallah also appreciated the efforts of President Tinubu towards the remarkable initiative, and he further urged students to take advantage of the opportunities at CNG conversion centres. In a remark, he discloses that the vehicles will be used judiciously and handled with care in the interest of students.
The PRC president echoed on the favorable feedback on the implementation of the CNG project in ABU among all other Nigerian universities, his speech also drew on the fact that the intiative will increase the effectiveness of academic activities in the university, by making travel fast.
Engineer David Ovoke Obire, a representative of the CNG initiative, gave an overview of the CNG intiative and outlined the objectives behind the presidential project. During his speech, David explained that the newly introduced vehicles are affordable and environmentally friendly. He noted that these vehicles will save transportation costs and are well suited to modern-day needs.
During the event’s interactive session, Engineer David entertained several questions from students and also urges them to learn the conversion skills at CNG centres for self-reliance.
The event came to a close with a closing remark from Dr. S.M Makarfi, the closing remark expressed the university’s deep appreciation for the presidential project. She extended her gratitude to all the attendees and wished everyone a safe return to their various destinations.
