Faculty of Education President Speaks Out Amid Suspension and Renovation Controversy

In an exclusive interview with ABU Campus Press, the suspended President of the Faculty of Education addressed allegations of financial misconduct and shared insights into his leadership journey.

Comrade Abubakar Abubakar Sadiq, who was suspended following a student petition, maintained his innocence and emphasized that his suspension was a constitutional procedure aimed at facilitating due investigation. He highlighted his commitment to faculty development, particularly showcasing the extensive renovation of faculty toilets with before-and-after photographic evidence. He also described challenges faced during the project, including the improper use of facilities by some students.

Key points from the interview revealed that the president’s motivation stemmed from a desire to give back to society, with a strong focus on initiating innovative improvements within the faculty. He stressed that he never intended to misuse association funds, claiming instead to have invested his personal resources to enhance faculty infrastructure.

Regarding the petition, Comrade Abubakar remained diplomatic. He stated that he is awaiting the outcome of the investigation and is prepared to accept whatever decision is reached.

He pointed to the toilet renovation project as a testament to his dedication, stating that the improvements were made not for personal recognition, but to genuinely benefit students.

When asked to address students and faculty members concerned about the current leadership, he urged patience and understanding, noting that leadership often comes with challenges. He also criticized the petitioners for not contributing to the faculty’s development and questioned their motives. The investigation on the issue is ongoing, and students now await the final resolution of this leadership dispute.
