Renowned businessman and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, has passed away at the age of 92. His death was announced by his Principal Private Secretary (PPS), Mustapha Junaid, on Friday.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings. The Janazah details will be shared later, insha Allah,” Junaid said in an official statement.
Alhaji Dantata was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential businessmen and philanthropists. Born in 1932, he was the son of Alhassan Dantata, the legendary merchant credited with pioneering large-scale trade in Northern Nigeria.
His death marks the end of an era for the Dantata family, whose name is synonymous with wealth, generosity, and community service. Condolences have begun pouring in from across the country.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements (Janazah) will be announced in due course, according to the family.
