MACOSA Hosts Orientation Programme for New Mass Communication Students at ABU Zaria.

The Mass Communication Students’ Association (MACOSA) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on Monday, 20th April 2025, held an orientation programme for newly admitted 100 Level and 200 Level Direct Entry students. The event, which took place at Lecture Theatre (LT) I, aimed to familiarize the fresh students with the academic, social, and administrative aspects of university life.

The orientation was graced by the Dean of the faculty, Prof. Shamsudeen  Mohammed, the Head of Department, Dr. Adama Adamu; Prof. Ibrahim Jimoh, Dr. Hashim Muhammad; Dr. Kabiru Dalandi, Dr. Aminu Abdulahi; lecturers; technicians; and other departmental staff. The programme featured a series of informative sessions addressing student responsibilities, academic expectations, and university regulations.

Dr. Habiba  M. Sani opened the event by welcoming the students to the departmental orientation program.

Dr Aminu Abdulahi outlined the importance of proper course registration and course credit unit. He encouraged students to understand and adhere to the academic requirements from the outset, setting a purposeful tone for the rest of the programme.

Dr. Hashim Mohammad urged students to select friends and not allow friends to select them. He emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and ethical behaviour throughout their academic journey.

Speaking on examination conduct, Dr. Kabir Dalandi detailed the exam guidelines and strongly advised students to steer clear of examination malpractice. 

Other lecturers also shared their advice and personal experiences to help students adjust effectively.

The MACOSA President, Jimoh Sultan Olamilekan, introduced the association’s Executive Council and stated that punctuality on exam day is essential.

 The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Habiba M. Sani.
