PRINTS WITH PATTERNS ARE NOT A FASHION-FAUX PAS.

 By Michelle Jackson

Just when we think we have gotten enough of the fashion world, mixed prints and patterns come out with another mind-blowing effect. It is definitely fun and eye-catching. Combining these two back in the day would have definitely been fashion ridicule but not today. As long as we know the balance of it, we are good to go.

The question now is, how do we balance it?

A lot of people want to try out this combination but are having fears or difficulty in how not to end up looking like a clown. Well, we have got an answer to those unasked questions!

Color Harmony

If you are going to wear a vibrant color, balance it out with neutral colors probably something darker, mix prints that have complementary or neighboring colors so they won't clash but blend in nicely, or rather mix two prints that have the same colors to be on the safer side.

Choose patterns of different sizes

Pairing a small-scale print with a large-scale pattern, allows the smaller scale to work as a neutral. And if one print is extra loud, find something more subtle to tone it down.

Wear a pattern under something more neutral

It is also advisable to find a print that you can put under something,

for example, a printed shirt under a suit or blazer. The jacket will cover most of the print, revealing just a hint of it.

Select the right type of garment

A printed dress or jumpsuit will be easier to wear than tops or bottoms because you won't have to match it with anything. Separate patterns and prints, on the other hand, will give you more combination options in your wardrobe.

But if you aren't feeling bold to go all out on patterns and prints yet, you can start with print and pattern socks, scarfs, and handbags on a plain outfit. It's a gradual thing, so have fun while trying this new look of yours.
