As the ABU team prepares for the National University Games Association, Royal Choice Inn, a hotel located right inside the Samaru Campus of the University has donated the sum of N700,000 (Seven Hundred Thousand Naira) to aid preparation for the upcoming competition scheduled to hold in the University of Lagos.
The donation was a redeeming of the pledge earlier made by the chairman of the hotel at the final of Prof. Kabiru Bala Squash Tournament held from 13th – 15th January, 2022. Making the donation, the chairman of the hotel, Chief Akiga had also pledged to reward the ABU NUGA team when they finally emerge the overall winner at next month’s NUGA games in University of Lagos.
Receiving the money on behalf of the team, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the donor for the gesture, saying that the funds would be judiciously used towards the success of the University team. He encouraged and prayed for the team’s success at the games and handed the money to the Chairman of ABU Sports Council, Prof. M.K. Aliyu for disbursement to the teams.
