JCIN ABU Holds Landmark Annual General Meeting, Elect Adewuyi Omotola as President

The Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN) Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) chapter recently held its Annual General Meeting at the Red Theatre, Faculty of Education, ABU Zaria, on Saturday, March 30th, 2024. 

The gathering, graced by esteemed members including past and present leaders, marked a transition in leadership. Notable figures in attendance at the event were the Past President, Aminu Yusuf Muhammad, the Immediate Past President, Abdulmumin Muhammad Sani, and the incumbent President, Abisoye Afeez Olalekan.

The event, masterfully hosted and moderated by President Abisoye Afeez, commenced with the adoption of the agenda and introduction from members.

The highlight of the gathering was the official induction of new members into the organisation who were presented certificates of membership after taking an oath of membership, followed by insightful reports the Board of Directors on the organisation's activities throughout the year. Of particular note was President Afeez's stewardship report, which detailed the organisation's projects, programs, and events executed over the year. The report highlighted the achievements of the organisation including its financial breakthrough. In addition to this, the President also noted the different activities and new collaborations with other organizations including JCI Nigeria, Lagos state University and JCI Nigeria, Bayero University, Kano. 

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the electoral process, where discussions were done regarding the qualifications of candidates. At the end of the electoral process, Adewuyi Omotola emerged victorious as the President-elect, with Omiyale Fareedah, Adeyemi Wuraola Victoria and Adeyemi Temitope Maryam securing the positions of Vice President I-elect, Vice President II-elect, and Executive Vice President respectively, based on the official declaration by the Electoral Committee Chairman, in the person of the former President, Abdulmumin Muhammad Sani

During an interview session with the outgoing President, Abisoye Afeez, he expressed optimism for the incoming administration, urging the President and his vice to champion the affairs of the organization selflessly and continue the legacy left behind.

"My advice to them is to ensure they work collectively and put in their best to ensure they achieve the targets they have for their administration. It won't be easy, like I said, but the results will eventually be worth the effort", he said.

With the conclusion of the elections, the meeting concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks.
