The Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representative Council (ABUSRC) brought the curtains down on the highly anticipated 2025 Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna Renaissance Festival, a vibrant celebration of Nigeria's rich cultural heritage. The four-day event, held from August 14th to 17th, 2025, at the Mamman Kontagora Square on the university's main campus, embodied the theme "Honouring the Past, Uniting the Future".
The festival was a testament to the university's commitment to promoting cultural diversity and national unity.
Students from various states and ethnic groups across Nigeria participated in the festival, showcasing their unique traditions and cultural identities. The grand durbar procession was a highlight of the event, featuring representatives from different states and multiple ethnic groups in Nigeria, including Hausa, Gbagi, Igbo, Tiv, Yoruba, Fulani, Kanuri, and Ebira, among others.
The festival included a range of activities, such as cultural displays, traditional music and dance performances, a grand durbar, traditional palace sitting, and cooking competitions.
Students showcased their culinary skills by preparing traditional dishes from their respective states, highlighting the rich culinary diversity of Nigeria.
The event was graced by distinguished guests from academia, government, and the media.
The festival served as a powerful reminder of the importance of cultural heritage in fostering national unity and identity.
By celebrating their differences, the students demonstrated that Nigeria's diversity is a strength, not a weakness.
