The
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Chapter of Nigerian Tulip International College,
Yobe Ex-student association initiates a crucial intervention program at the Shehu
Mu'azu Almajiri School
in Tudun Wada, Zaria, Kaduna state.
The
intervention program took the form of an outreach to the school whereby items
like Clothing, Soaps, Detergents, and Shoes were donated
to over
70 Almajiris to help them curtail the Challenges of the harsh weather and life
generally
Speaking
at the program, the President of the association, Haruna Suleiman Saleh
commended the teachers in the effort they put in the education and moral
bringing of the students as well as admonished the students to demonstrate the
essence of the education they are acquiring.
“I
want to commend the effort of all the school teachers for your tremendous
effort in the education and moral upbringing of the students. To the students,
it is not easy but you will have to demonstrate what this education you
are acquiring means
to you”, Suleiman said.
He
however called on the attention of parents, the
government, and the society to be supportive and as well
show sympathy towards the Almajiris as doing so will help solve the issue of
irregularities havocking the educational
system.
Meanwhile,
the Almajiris and their teachers showed great appreciation and happiness over
the effort of the student union. Pointing out the problem of lack of government
intervention, a
teacher referred to as Mallam Atiku stated that it is the first time a
non-governmental association reached out to them since the establishment of the
school which is over 70 years ago.
