The international women's day is a global holiday that is being celebrated annually every March 8 to highlight the achievements of women globally and also celebrate women who have shaped womanhood and break the dichotomy between sexist. These amazing women that have contributed immensely in one way or the other and are always ready to make the difference everywhere they are.
It is also associated with pushing the notion for gender
equality and in some parts of the world, it is a day of activism marked to
campaign and call for radical changes in areas affecting women like political
inclusiveness and more. This year's international women's day was not an
exception. The United Nation themed the international women's day: "gender
equality today for a sustainable tomorrow"; highlighting women's
achievements around the globe who contribute in promoting climate change
adaptation, therefore building a more conducive future all of us.
In exalting the international women's day 2022, we cannot
help but celebrate these women whose persistence and hard work has made 2021
and early 2022 glorious. Notably is
Katalin Kariko, a Hungarian chemist and researcher who develop vaccines for
human papillomavirus (hpv) and
pneumocaol disease. Mia Amor Mottley; Prime Minister of Barbados for
championing the plight of people against inequality and in action in
distribution of COVID vaccines.
Meanwhile, our very own Okonjo Iweala is famously known for being the first woman and African to be selected Director General of the World Trade Organization(WTO). The meaningful impact of this women and more not mentioned have paved the way for changes among women to push hard and do everything possible to achieve their set goals and also inspiring young girls. And in commemorating the 2022 International Women's Day, we want to thank you for being mothers, nation builders, policymakers and more
